Tenerife Village -Arico Nuevo

Arico Nuevo is hidden away on the TF28, the old road that links the hill towns of the east coast of Tenerife, a few kilometres and a million miles away from the busy TF1 motorway below. Arico Nuevo has in recent years been declared an historic village, it is the middle Arico village, flanked on its north side by Villa de Arico and on its south by Arico Viejo.

Originally constructed by the great landowners of the area in the 18th century, a cloistered settlement of 17th century houses with walled patios and erratically angled windows that look out over near deserted alleyways.Within the village, every lane is lined with white houses, their sun bleached green doors and windows flaking, their uniformity punctuated by the occasional brightly coloured façade of a casa rural (rural accommodation). In the little church that occupies the village plaza, you’ll find a valuable 16th century Gothic Madonna and Child sculpture entitled ‘La Virgin de Tajo y Niño’.

The landscape surrounding Arico is a mix of mountainous scenery, dotted with pine groves. The Corona Pine forests stretch down as far as Arico. Independent travellers and keen walkers will favour Arico Nuevo for a good rural base. You're close to the motorway (4km away) so within easy access to the larger south Tenerife resort facilities.Well worth a visit, it's a quaint  little village that takes you back in time.
